I like to paint, make picture frames & wall hanging wood art. My goal with this channel (besides showing my artwork) is to inspire you to make your own. You won't find any "how to" videos here. It's not my goal to tell anyone how to do anything. I think as artist's it's important to do things our own way and find our own unique style. However, I do show how I do things - and I hope that through watching, you can find some ideas that you can use. And I also share some tips and tricks that you may find helpful. That being said, take whatever ideas you want from these videos and incorporate them into your own style. No one can do it like you. And more importantly than watching videos - the best way to learn new things, find new ideas and get results is to go out there and do it :)
Painting Mom's town - Happy Mother's Day!
Happy Mother's Day Mom! and you too Joann! (my stepmom) and to all you Mom's out there!
Definitely a day to celebrate and show our Mom's how much they mean to us cause let's face it - What haven't they done for us???
I painted this last year (2022) and did it in several stages - spanning from Feb to Nov. It's perhaps the most time I've ever spent on a single painting. I could've easily have "called it done" sooner but liked the way it was progressing so I wanted to spend as much time as was needed to make it as good as I possibly could :)
I gave this painting and one other to my Mom on Mother's Day. Check out the video on her channel. ruclips.net/video/D66wzSSrVBI/видео.html...

"Ginger's Drift" wood art
Просмотров 892Год назад
Naming artwork can be challenging at times. At first I had an entirely different name in mind but wasn't fully satisfied with it. To help with ideas I used the google camera (in the google app) to find images that looked similar. It opened up my thinking to a whole new range of possibilities that I hadn't previously thought of. Very useful when trying to come up with name ideas. Also wanted to ...
notorious vigorious
Просмотров 942Год назад
Testing out my Delta drum sander. I had the pieces of wood in storage for a few years and got them out for the test. As is fairly common when starting a project I really didn't know if the wood would yield an art piece. But lo and behold a very vigorous and notorious looking character emerged. I call him victor the vigorous.
Freedom's spirit

I made this art piece in 2021. After I cut the slices quite a few of the pieces were broken so rather than throw them out I just went with it and started breaking even more of them - making the broken pieces the theme of the art. Working with free wood gives me a sense of freedom, like "Hey, what do I have to lose if this doesn't turn out?" And as sometimes happens - after I made it I thought "...
art pickin' again / tools & wood
Просмотров 706Год назад
One very important part of the art creation process is gathering materials, tools, etc. and other stuff needed to create the art. One way to do it is to pay retail prices :( The other way to do it is to look for good deals or free stuff (which is my preferred method :) There are so many ways and opportunities out there. One of the ways I find deals is by going to garage sales, moving sales, est...
efflorescence of decadence
Просмотров 1,3 тыс.Год назад
To me there's always been a certain beauty in decayed wood. I like to find something forgotten, looked over, discarded, etc. and make something of it. Driftwood in many cases has had a hard go at it. Once a living tree it somehow finds itself in a river, possibly for years and then the ocean (again possibly for years) where it's out in the elements and inevitably in the process of natural decay...
To be ok showing the mess i guess
Просмотров 1,4 тыс.Год назад
I was going to clean up the mess at my "outdoor store" on Sunday and then make the wood art on Monday and shoot the video. But then I got to thinking "that doesn't sound like fun" ....and thought why not start the day by doing the fun stuff (cutting the wood and working on the art piece) and end by cleaning up the mess (and making one messy video showing it all).
How being a picker can benefit your art
Просмотров 946Год назад
Being a picker has been extremely beneficial to me as an artist. And it can be beneficial to you too - if it isn't already. I think as artist's, bargain hunting is a very natural part of the artistic process. Most of us can't (or don't want to) spend top dollar on our materials, tools and other things having to do with creating our art. Therefore, hunting for good deals on the things we can use...
The drift's end
Просмотров 939Год назад
All good things must come to an end and I guess picking up driftwood on the beach is unfortunately no exception. After having an amazing day hunting and gathering on Sunday and thinking I could go back many times, I was unpleasantly surprised a couple of days later when I saw that they were getting rid of it. I'm glad I had a chance to save the few pieces I could but sadly the vast majority cam...
Up to my knees in driftwood

We had a big storm here in Ventura recently and a lot of driftwood washed up on the beach. There was so much that I actually found myself "up to my knees" in it.
La Quinta oil painting
Просмотров 6302 года назад
I went to my Mom's house in La Quinta, Ca, for the Thanksgiving holiday. I wanted to do a painting while I was there. I had been to downtown La Quinta a few other times before and always thought it was a really cool town with great scenery and an artistic vibe. My Mom & her dog Charlie Brown and I went into town to shoot some video for some painting inspiration. After about half an hour or so o...
october leaves
Просмотров 1,6 тыс.2 года назад
October has always been one of my favorite months so I wanted to make a piece of art to symbolize it / pay tribute to it. Pumpkins were the first thing I thought of - and of course Halloween. But I was in the mood to do something different so the next thing that came to mind was leaves. And although the theme of this artwork is october leaves.....the irony is that sometimes I wish october would...

Narciso tree??
Scott, I've enjoyed your videos very much, and feel I've seen most if not all. Love your wood sculptures/wall hangings, and would be very pleased to see a new creation soon. Thanks for all of them.........get crackin'!! (haha)
Thank you ME, MYSELF and I…YOURS TRUELY…WE *APPRECIATE ALL THAT GOES into EACH and EVERY video YOU share!😊
Loved the ending of your video 😂as much as the creativity!
These doughy socal art teachers just refuse to discover boots. Imagine how much better they'd feel if sandals and flipflops disappeared.
I crisscrossed all 3 coasts of Canada last summer, picked up a few choice driftwood pieces (ok, quite a few, lol). Quite a few good crafting artists coast to coast to coast. I'm a painter, not a crafter bone in me. so thank you for sharing yours.
oh also 5 Great lakes, plus Greater Slave Lake, NWT, Lake Winnepeg, St Lawrence river. 🥰
Hi Scott, ae you ok... Long Tim no see you on RUclips Stan
Would driftwood cracks easily? As it has submerged in water for a long time, it has a very high moisture content I suppose.
Hi Scott Professor Vinster here came to check out your videos. I want to add more drift wood to my projects with 3D fish and animals and well I was here subscribed. Will be going through your video for ideas if that's ok .
Love it
I’m is Wisconsin. Love your artwork.
Heyyyaa! RUclips recommended me this video on my feed and its really well presented! Kudos to the work that you're doing 😊 by the way I was wondering if I could help you edit your videos and also make highly engaging shorts out of them. But I'm not really sure if it is the best time?
I’m with you buddy . I’m on Vancouver island and love, love driftwood.
Great job!!
You are Gifted, no I'm not gone yet, you are super cool, a bit weird, in a cool way, you see the beauty in what nature, ocean tides and storms create from that branch that fell and was tumbled and tossed, and then arrived from a storm or high tide on your beach, and then you honour that beauty . Your nuts man, in the most beautiful way. You rock.Crazy beautiful heart.I love your brain, heart and artistry.✨
You, are, BRILLIANT
I get you.I wish I had your talent, I don't, I wish I had your artistic DNA, I don't, you are blessed, but thank GOD ,you are in the world, cause I am the weirdo that drags this stuff home, and drives my hubby crazy, Cos I think like you, I see the beauty, just don't have the skills, or support to get ideas out of my head, and do real stuff.Only capable with the tools and backup, don't have that, but, hey man, I get you, You see what I see,, SO GRATEFUL TO YOU FOR SHOWING YOUR VISION.I DON'T FEEL AS NUTS NOW, Just frustrating, there is something in me screaming to get out, just not able, BUT YOU ARE SOOOO COOL.BLESS YOU.
Nice job Scott, the best part is you never have to clean up your shop...
What kind of wood glue do you use , very nice
Stop complaining about being wet , just wear appropriate shoes
Beautiful! 😍 I love the little cutie pie at the end. 🥰
Hey Scott. Turned out great. Looks like a Buffalo head. Did you ask the woman if she has any pictures of the tree? It would be nice to have one with the art.
Great piece of art out of an ignored piece of wood. now I have to try go search for drift wood myself, thank you for the inspiration sir.
Wonderful piece of art; I love it and thanks for sharing. Greetings from Colombia.
Are most of your burls full of sand and dirt that immediately dulls your saw ?
You should have stained the plywood before you glued it onto the pieces of Barnwood, would have turned out a lot better job
Hey what about doing smaller frames? Like an 8×10?.I'm really getting into this and want to learn all I can.and what about glass? You ever put glass or something that will protect the pic it self.im not a painter,I'm a photographer.
Вот почему мне нравится давать вторую жизнь старому и удивительно красивому в своей казалось бы ненужности... Мастеру здоровья и вдохновенья ☺☺☺
A good eye for art.
Love it, great way to use items we collect
Well done very inspiring
Beautiful👍
Thank you! Cheers!
More like key oh lantern.
very fitting
Love it!

For sure!

Waiting for your next wood art video sir..

Fantastic frame. Thank you for sharing this. You mentioned that most frames are overlapping/meeting the picture they frame. I wondered about making this type of frame from driftwood. I imagine it would be extremely difficult to cut grooves in the driftwood to actually fit a picture mounted on a thin ply actually into the driftwood. Just thinking out loud - I am considering making a driftwood frame for a large photo/poster of my dog, and getting ideas of the best way to do it. I'm in awe of how much skill and thought you put into preparation and finishing.
Great Job, Scott 👍👍👍👍
I love it, definitely not junk. Aside from being pretty awesome it also gives me inspiration for what I can do with some of my boxes of sourced hardware. Your creative nature never fails to inspire.
Nice!
Yo Scott all the tradies should take your lead and with their whatnots bits n pieces make some radical art pieces like yours bravo
Thanks you for sharing ❤👍🏽
Thanks for watching!
Ha! Super cool :)
